Glass Taster Sessions
2 hrs

You will start by learning to cut glass successfully, a useful skill to carry beyond this class, before moving on to make a small item of your choice, such as a sun catcher or coaster. This will be left in the studio for firing, to be collected, or posted, at a later date. Posting will incur a small charge.

Ideal for visitors, both long and short stay.
Activities are available with as little as 2 hours notice. Obviously we prefer as much notice as possible, but rainy days and delayed ferries happen.

Fused Glass Full Day (or 2 Half Days)

This class is ideal for total beginners, as well as those who may have done an occasional class before. We will explore several techniques which lend themselves to being completed in one session. You will make four or five items, depending on time, which will be left in the studio for firing, to be collected, or posted, at a later date. Posting will incur a small charge.

Glass Jewellery Taster Session
2 hrs

A dip of the toe into the wonderful world of fused glass jewellery. You will begin by learning how to cut glass and then move on to make several pieces of glass for turning into jewellery. There will also be an opportunity to work with the wonderful, sparkly, dichroic glass.
Projects will be left for firing, to be collected, or posted, at a later date. Postage will incur a small charge.

Fused Glass Half Day

This class is ideal for total beginners, as well as those who may have done a class before. We will explore several techniques which lend themselves to being completed in one session. You will make three or four items, depending on time, which will be left in the studio for firing, to be collected, or posted, at a later date. Posting will incur a small charge.

Block of 4 Glass Classes
Blocks of classes taken during our regular, 2hr, weekly classes. The classes are project based and you will learn by doing, designing your own pieces. These will incorporate advanced techniques that take several sessions and firings to produce.
Currently, classes run on Thursdays at 1 till 3pm and 7 till 9pm. Other days and times will be added as required.

Fusing & Slumping 2 Day Intro

This class is ideal for total beginners, as well as those who may have done an occasional class before. We will explore several fusing techniques, incorporating them into projects which will then be slumped. We will look at using commercial moulds as well as making one of your own design. Pieces will be left in the studio for firing, to be collected, or posted, at a later date. Posting will incur a small charge.

Fused Glass Jewellery 2 Day Intro

This class is ideal for total beginners, as well as those who may have done an occasional class before. You will explore some of the many techniques for making glass jewellery. Some of them will take multiple firings and will involve cold working and fire polishing to take pieces beyond the beginner level. We will also look at different types of glass including dichroic and recycled. On day 2, you will turn some of the pieces into wearable jewellery, looking at stick on bails, wire wrapping, drilling etc.
Some pieces will be ready to take with you, others will be posted after firing. Posting will incur a small charge.

Recycling Glass 2 Day Introduction

Recycling glass by fusing is a great way to explore the art, without spending a fortune on expensive fusing glass. It is very rewarding but comes with its own set of challenges, some artistic and some technical. Together with your tutor, you will explore the different types of waste glass readily available and the techniques needed to transform them. The items you produce will be of your own design and could be wall art, practical items or even jewellery. Some pieces will be ready to take with you, others will be posted after firing. Posting will incur a small charge.

Start Your Own Glass Business
This is an intensive week, involving both practical glass fusing skills as well the skills you need to run your business. If you have ever thought about escaping the rat race and setting up a glass fusing business, then this is the course for you. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience. For those with experience, we will take this into account so we don't repeat what you already know. Your tutor has over 20 years experience in running a fused glass business, as well as a degree in Business and Management.
We will cover fusing and slumping techniques, setting up a studio, making a business plan, marketing and pricing, etc. As well as where to go to for ongoing help, advice, and funding. We will look at finding suppliers, selling to trade and the difference between retail, wholesale and commission selling.
